The Milk Cafe - Breastfeeding Support
Expert breastfeeding support and community for expat mums.
Service Description
Finding your "village" is hard enough, but doing it thousands of miles away from your own support network? That’s a whole different level of parenting. Welcome to The Milk Cafe, a dedicated space for expat mums to find connection, clarity, and a good cup of tea. Whether you are navigating your first week of breastfeeding or are months into your journey and just need to talk to someone who gets it, this is your home away from home. What to Expect: Expert Guidance: As a qualified lactation consultant, I’ll be on hand to answer your questions, troubleshoot latches, and provide evidence-based information—no "old wives' tales" here. Expat Connections: Meet other mums who understand the unique highs and lows of raising a baby in a foreign country. A Moment of Calm: Enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and a selection of snacks while your baby feeds (or naps!) in a safe, judgment-free zone. Community Building: We aren't just a clinic; we’re a community. Come for the breastfeeding support, stay for the friendships that make living abroad feel a lot less lonely. Our first session begins on 13th April and as a celebration of our launch the cafe will be free on this day! Space is limited to keep our circle cozy and supportive. Secure your spot below!
Booking and Cancellation Policy
1. Reservations & Payment Advance Booking: To maintain a safe capacity at the Pippagina, all spots must be booked in advance via the website. Payment: Payment is required at the time of booking to secure your space. (Launch event on 13.04.26 is free). Waitlist: If a session is full, you can join the waitlist. You will be notified via email if a spot opens up. 2. Cancellations & Refunds We know that life with a baby is unpredictable! Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the session will receive a full credit to use for a future cafe date. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the session are non-refundable, as we have already committed to venue costs and refreshments. However, you are welcome to "gift" your spot to another mum—just let us know their name! Sessions cancelled by me will be refunded in full. 3. Health & Safety (The "Sniffle" Policy) To protect our littlest members (some of whom may be only days old), we kindly ask that you do not attend if: You or your baby have had a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 48 hours. You or your baby have a persistent cough or a new, undiagnosed rash. If you miss a session due to sudden illness, please contact emmaokane.bfb@gmail.com and I will do my best to move your booking to another date. 4. Scope of Support The Milk Cafe provides group-based peer support and general lactation guidance. * While I am a qualified Lactation Consultant and happy to answer questions, this session is not a substitute for a full, private clinical consultation. If your concerns require a deep dive into medical history, weight-gain plans, or complex oral assessments, I may recommend booking a private 1-on-1 session to give you the dedicated time you deserve. 5. Privacy & Environment Confidentiality: To create a safe space for "real talk," we ask that what is shared in the group stays in the group. Photography: Please do not take photos or videos of other mothers or babies without their explicit consent. (I love it when you share your coffee/cake on Instagram, just keep the background private!) 6. Liability By booking a spot, you acknowledge that you remain responsible for the safety and supervision of your child at all times during the session. A Note for My Fellow Expats We get it—the bus was late, the diaper leaked, or you just moved here and got lost. Don't panic. We are a low-stress zone. If you’re running late, just come in, grab a tea, and join the circle whenever you’re ready.
